Household Battery Recycling Program

Fact: Did you know it is actually illegal to throw household batteries in the trash?

Throwing household batteries in the trash could potentially expose the environment to damaging chemicals.  Damaged batteries also may cause burns or injuries to eyes and skin.

The City of Corona is proud to announce the establishment of a Household Battery Recycling program for its residents.

RESPONSIBLE

In 2001 it is estimated that over half a billion batteries were sold in California.  Of these, 99.45% were not recycled.  Source: California Integrated Easte Management Board's ("CIWMB") report Household Universal Waste Generation in California (2002)                                                      Proper disposal of household batteries reduces potential for harmful chemicals to damage the environment.
