The Corona Police Department is offering a $5,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) involved in a road rage homicide occurring on November 24, 2009, in the area of Lincoln Ave and Pomona Road. On November 24, 2009, at approximately, 1:59 AM, Officers of the Corona Police Department responded to the area of Lincoln Ave and Pomona Road, reference a possible shooting. Upon arriving, the officers located a green Jeep Cherokee that had crashed into the side of the Best Western Motel, located at 1084 Pomona Road. Inside the vehicle officers discovered a male driver who had been shot. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Corona Paramedics. The driver has been identified as Ignacio Duarte 35 years of Corona. The investigation has determined that the victim and another vehicle had possibly been involved in a road rage type conflict while on the West Bound 91 freeway, between Interstate 15 and the Lincoln Ave. Off- ramp. The victim exited the freeway at Lincoln Ave., and the suspect vehicle followed. At the intersection of Pomona Road and Lincoln Ave, an unknown suspect fired a gun from the suspect vehicle striking the driver. The victim vehicle then rolled across the intersection East Bound and crashed into the side of the Best Western Hotel. The suspect vehicle fled the scene South Bound on Lincoln Ave. The suspect vehicle is described as possibly a Black Ford Expedition or similar vehicle with shiny chrome rims. The investigation is ongoing.
