On December 12, 2009, at approximately 3:56 AM, Officers of the Corona Police Department responded to the 4700 Blk of Feather River Road, reference a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by Corona Paramedics. Corona Police Detectives responded and have been conducting an in depth investigation. Their Investigation determined that there had been a confrontation between a group of subjects at the location. During the confrontation, a gun was produced and the victim was shot one time in the head. The suspect then fled the scene. During their investigation, detectives developed leads which led to the identity of a possible suspect, Denis Tokarev, Age 21, from Corona. On December 13, 2009, at approximately 4:20 P.M. Corona Detectives located suspect Denis Tokarev in a vehicle in the City of Montebello, after receiving a tip on his whereabouts. Tokarev was safely taken into custody for homicide, and is being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside County. The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of family. The investigation is ongoing.
